Aspen
During the middle of May, Dave had a conference for work up at the Aspen Institute for Physics. It is about a 4-hour drive from Fort Collins to Aspen, so we packed everybody into the mini-van and headed up for a family trip. During the afternoons where Dave had time off, we rode our bikes around town and explored (Andrew got to ride in his Burley bike trailer). Early in the week, we found Triangle Park close to the conference center that has a mini-playground that was perfectly sized for Andrew-age kids. Every day we would meet up with Dave’s co-workers (Phil and Steve and Steve’s wife Michelle) and go out to lunch or dinner at different restaurants in Aspen. Andrew learned that in nice restaurants he can eat crackers and cheese for his whole meal if he threatens to make a big fuss. We had to work on that some after we got back home. During one of the evenings, we also had the chance to drive down to nearby Carbondale and visit our friends, Dave and Jess Downing.
