A Big Boy Bed
In preparation for the arrival of a little brother, we have been slowly but surely working on a new room for Andrew to move into. One of the additions to his ‘big boy room’ that Andrew is most excited about so far is his very own Thomas the Tank Engine bed. As of late January he has successfully made the transition to taking naps there, but Mom and Dad have not been brave enough to put him in there during the nighttime yet. That adventure will be coming soon, though…

Andrew stays active…
Even though it was snowy and bitterly cold during parts of December and January, Andrew found exciting activities both inside and out. One of his indoor games was riding around in the laundry basket. When it wasn’t too cold, he and Dave would also get bundled up to go outside and play with the dogs in the backyard. He also had friends come over to play or went to play at their houses.

A Trip to the Children’s Museum
During the time while Shelley’s family was out, the weather clear up enough on the weekend that we could all take Andrew down for a day at the Denver Children’s Museum. Andrew had a great time dressing up like a fireman, being a train engineer, climbing around in the forest like a squirrel, playing basketball with Uncle Brad, cooking, shopping, painting, putting on a veternarian’s outfit, fishing, and blowing bubbles. All in all, a lot of activity for one morning!

More Christmas Time
During the week before Christmas, Shelley had her 20-week ultrasound. When we went in for the ultrasound, they said that everything looked great with the baby, but that Shelley had placenta previa and that they might not let her fly on the plane. This was the day before we were supposed to leave for Alabama to see the Zubrick family for Christmas and New Year’s. By the end of the day they had definitely said that air travel wouldn’t be a good idea, so we had to revamp our whole holiday plans. We briefly entertained the idea of driving 22 hours to Montgomery, but then Shelley’s folks called and said that if we couldn’t come out to them, they were going to come to us. They had booked 4 last minute plane tickets to fly out to Colorado and we picked up Shelley’s mom and dad, brother and grandma from DIA on Christmas Eve. Although the weather wasn’t terrific for their visit (snowy and very cold), we had a lot of fun and enjoyed getting to see them.

Christmas Time
A couple weekends before Christmas we got the chance to get together with all the nearby Deakins family to have a big dinner and exchange gifts before we all went off to our various holiday destinations. It was a lot of fun for every one, especially the kids.
