TTBR Draft
One of the other important events was Derrick and Dave’s TTBR fantasy football draft on Saturday afternoon. They were 2 of the 12 owners who were logging in from several different states to draft their 2007-2008 teams. One of the exciting parts of the draft was when Andrew and Stephen both woke up crying shortly before the 9th round draft picks came around and the Kalahari Meerkats and Dominican Hurricane staff had to scramble to coordinate kids and put in quality picks.
Texans Football
During our trip to Houston, we got to see the Houston Texans play the Atlanta Falcons. If the players look a little smaller than on TV, it’s because it was actually the Texans and Falcons in Jack’s football league. Jack had some good plays on the offensive line, but the game got called on account of a thunderstorm late in the third quarter. Andrew learned that an afternoon in Houston is a bit more humid than an afternoon in Colorado (even in September).
Trip to Houston
After getting back from Milwaukee, we turned right around and headed south to Houston to visit Derrick and Melanie and family in their new home. We got to spend lots of time hanging out with Derrick, Melanie, and Alison and Andrew had great fun playing with his cousins Jack, Charlie, and Stephen.
Wedding in Milwaukee
Over Labor Day weekend, Dave, Shelley, and Andrew traveled to Wisconsin for the wedding of Shelley’s friend Andrea Haas. Shelley’s mom also met up with as there and we were all graciously hosted by Gregg and Debbie Stear. The wedding was fun and Shelley enjoyed getting to see Andrea and other high school friends (and also getting to eat ‘an apple pie baked in a paper bag’ from the Elegant Farmer – that’s the barn with a smiley face on it.) Andrew enjoyed getting to spend time with Gamma and getting to go to the park and to the beach.
