4th of July
July 4th was filled with lots of fun activities. Shelley and Alissa woke up early on July 4th to go run in the Firecracker 5K down at City Park. Andrew and I came down to watch them finish. After lunch we went to the Collindale neighborhood pool to take Andrew swimming. The place was packed with kids swimming, diving, and doing relay races, but there was some open space in the kiddie pool and Andrew splashed around there. Later in the afternoon, we had lots of friends and family over for a BBQ. Andrew got the chance to share his new river/waterfall toy with some of the other kids who were there. By the time the BBQ wound down, we decided we were too tired and full to fight the crowds at City Park to see the fireworks, so we watch some fireworks on TV and went to bed. =)

Aquarium
At the end of June, Shelley and Alissa herded together a large group of Deakins and Smith-related kids and shuttled them all down to the aquarium in Denver.

Rockes vs. Yankees
The Smiths had some Rockies tickets that they weren’t able to use so we invited our friends John and Jenn to go down to Coors Field with us. Since the Yankees were in town, the crowd was pretty wound up. Although the Yankees almost rallied in the 8th inning, the Rockies pulled out a victory.

Father’s Day
For Father’s Day this year, Shelley and Andrew surprised me with waffles in bed. Later we got some Raising Cane’s chicken fingers and had a picnic on the beach by Horsetooth. It was also right around Father’s Day that Andrew started to take a number of steps and really walk. (See him standing next to me in one of the beach pictures below.)
