Aspen
During the middle of May, Dave had a conference for work up at the Aspen Institute for Physics. It is about a 4-hour drive from Fort Collins to Aspen, so we packed everybody into the mini-van and headed up for a family trip. During the afternoons where Dave had time off, we rode our bikes around town and explored (Andrew got to ride in his Burley bike trailer). Early in the week, we found Triangle Park close to the conference center that has a mini-playground that was perfectly sized for Andrew-age kids. Every day we would meet up with Dave’s co-workers (Phil and Steve and Steve’s wife Michelle) and go out to lunch or dinner at different restaurants in Aspen. Andrew learned that in nice restaurants he can eat crackers and cheese for his whole meal if he threatens to make a big fuss. We had to work on that some after we got back home. During one of the evenings, we also had the chance to drive down to nearby Carbondale and visit our friends, Dave and Jess Downing.
Mother’s Day
For Mother’s Day this year, Dave planned a trip for the whole family to Aspen (ok, actually Dave had a business trip in Aspen that started on Mother’s Day, but that’s pretty close, right?) Here is a picture of Shelley and Andrew on Mother’s Day:
Andrew in the wagon
Here is a picture of riding in the wagon with Tanner (the younger son of our friends Mark and Alissa down the street). Hayden (Tanner’s cousin) got to be the wagon hauler.
Tex turns 3!
Tex celebrated his 3rd birthday last month. His 3rd year was an eventful one, filled with learning to have a mobile younger brother Andrew and having Chloe come to live with him. As is the tradition, he got a birthday cake from Arfy’s Mercantile (for Dogs and Cats) that he took to his dog playschool to share with his friends. Shelley sent along some treats for the humans, too!
Andrew’s Drawer
In order to keep Andrew occuppied when we are doing things in the kitchen, Andrew has his own drawer (full of bibs, washclothes, and sippy cups) and one cupboard that he is allowed to get into. Here is Andrew playing in his drawer.
